Write energy-efficient prompts
Shorter, smarter prompts use less compute.
Every token an AI processes costs energy — electricity for the GPUs, cooling for the data centres. A rambling 60-word preamble that could be said in 15 words burns tokens on filler. The Green Score rewards prompts that are specific, well-structured, and free of redundancy. The bonus: shorter prompts usually produce better results too, because the AI spends its budget on your actual request instead of decoding your preamble.
So basically I was thinking maybe you could help me write something that's kind of like a marketing email or maybe a newsletter thing for my customers about the upcoming sale that we're having in the summer, I'd like it to be quite short and punchy if possible.
Write a 120-word marketing email for existing customers about our summer sale (20% off, July 1-15). Include subject line and one CTA button.
The bad prompt uses 50 words to say what the good prompt says in 22. Same information, a fraction of the tokens. Every word earns its place — audience, details, format all present, zero filler.
Aim for under 40 words for simple requests. Read your prompt back and cut every word that does not add information.
